Sorry I could not join the last live chat with Virginie. My thirst for what was discussed has been quenched by the link provided to the chat recordings and the summary provided by Virginie. Participation in the next live chat is a must for me. I believe other partcipants who missed the first live chat will puctually be in the chatroom before me, on Friday 24 July 2009 @ 12.00 CET. The chat has brought more life to the university 2.0 forum. Kudos to the organisers.

A web-based Live Chat web client for contributors, tightly integrated with other areas of sumo, will help us solve some of the challenges we are facing in Live Chat. Goals should be to make 'casual' helping easier, while allowing core helpers to participate more effectively.
A major problem with casual helping in Live Chat is that community members pressure themselves to show up and be helpful. While this self-motivation has caused many dedicated, core community members to join our project, people without enough time to commit or who spend too much time have been driven away. Since there exist pressures to show up regularly, and since helping can take a long time, some community members help more than they can before leaving in frustration. Hence, we want to limit pressures that community members place on themselves, without placing limits on our core community.

Dear forum participants,
For those who could not access the chat last week, you can view the discussion by going to the chat room and clicking on "View Old Messages" or go to the following link:
http://science-connect.net/?q=chatroom/archive/1
In spite of minor technical problems which slowered the pace of interaction, the conversation was joined by 11 participants, some more briefly, some remained for the whole time. We had the pleasure to welcome: Tony, Chahira, Felix, Maike, Ulf, Gilford, Samuel, Adefokun, Erick, Alice and Telesphore.
Thank you all for your participation!
The main issues discussed were:
1. What were your key learnings in the last two weeks and how do you feel this might influence your work/ daily activities?
2. What have you found surprising/ disappointing / exciting
NB: nobody elaborated on the "disappointing" part :-)
3. What have you been longing to say in the forum and not yet managed?
More you can read in the transcript :-)
Our next chat live session will be next Friday 24 June at 12:00 CET. Hope to see you there!
