Masters Scholarship - ARTS University of Bonn Germany
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany is providing ten full-time stipends for applicants from Subsaharan Africa to join the international Master-of-Science program"Agricultural Sciences and Resource Management in the Tropics and Subtropics - ARTS" at the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Bonn for the study period February 2010 to April 2012.
The stipend package includes a monthly allowance of 850 € (EURO) for up to 26 months, air travel from the home country to Germany and back, as well as air travel from Germany to the field study country and back. In addition, an initial 2-month German language training and various socio-cultural events are offered.
Applicants must be residents of a country in sub-Saharan Africa and work at a university or a national or international research or development organization. They should be less than 30 years old and hold a BS in agricultural or environmental sciences with an above-average grade. At least two years of working experience in agricultural or environmental research or development are desirable.
Applications must contain the duly filled ARTS application form (http://www.arts.uni-bonn.de/downloads/ARTS-application forms.pdf), two letters of recommendation, certified true copies of university certificates and degree awards, an English language certificate, and a 3-5 page MS thesis research proposal.
The complete application files must be received at the ARTS sectretariate by 15 September 2009. Candidates will be selected by a panel of international scientists based on applicants qualifications and the scientific quality and soundness of the research proposal. Acceptance notifications will be send out by end of October 2009.
