Mentoring

Science Connect Mentor Programme

Welcome to the Science Connect Mentor Programme. This programme is designed to connect researchers and scientific-interested people from all over the world. Within this part of Science Connect we differentiate in two roles. The first role is the Mentor who is a community-member that has scientific expertise and is willingly to share this with other community members. The complementary role is the Student. A Student is a member of Science Connect who needs scientific information in any field that is provided by a Mentor. To be called a Student doesn’t mean that you actually have to be real university student. This can rather be everybody who wants or needs scientific supervision.

Mentorship

At the time a Mentor and a Student with similar research interests found each other they are starting a Mentorship. A Mentorship is a high quality learning process for both sides. While the Student gets supervised by the Mentor in a certain research area, the Mentor benefits of the cultural differences by working with international Students. He also profits in gaining training abilities within the Mentorship. The Mentorship is one of the essential visions of Science Connect because it enables cooperative gaining of scientific knowledge across borders.

If a Mentor and a Student find each other and are starting a Mentorship we expect a little feedback about their progress. Usually this is the task of the Student since he takes the most profit out of this partnership. For quality reasons we would like to have a short description of the Mentorship topic and a feedback after the first 2 months and after that after every 6 months regularly. This will be given on an automatically generated Webform within Science Connect and published to the SciCon community. After finishing the Mentorship, Science Connect will provide you with a Mentorship certificate (via PDF electronically or Mail).
